Eagle Mountain Lake (Twin Points)

If you want a more outdoorsy feel and you don’t mind being about 25-30 minutes from Grapevine on SH-199 or cutting through on I-820, Eagle Mountain Lake is a solid choice. It’s a real campground with a lake view, not a parking lot with hookups. The drive to Main Street from out here is straightforward — I-35W to SH-121 is the route I’d take.

Cedar Hill State Park

Cedar Hill is about 35-40 minutes south of Grapevine on I-20, and it’s one of the genuinely beautiful state park campgrounds in the Metroplex. Joe Pool Lake, good infrastructure, and well-maintained loops. Worth it if you want the state park experience and don’t mind the drive each day.

What Rig Works Best for This Event

Main Street Fest is mostly couples, friend groups, and families — not usually giant production crews. For a couple or two friends, I typically recommend a mid-size travel trailer: enough room to be comfortable, easy to place at most campsite sizes, and the right fit for a 3-4 night rental over a festival weekend. If you’re flying in through DFW, that airport is practically in Grapevine’s backyard — SH-121 connects directly. Dallas Love Field is a longer haul, about 30-35 minutes depending on traffic, but doable. You’re not renting a car just to move an RV — that’s the whole advantage of the delivery model.

A Note on May Weather in North Texas

I’ll be real with you: May is a beautiful month in the Metroplex but it has a split personality. You can get a gorgeous 82-degree Saturday with a light breeze, or you can get a thunderstorm roll in off the plains by 4pm. That’s just DFW in spring. The rigs we rent have climate control, so the heat isn’t the issue — it’s the storm prep.
